For a USC graduate thesis, 4 guys shot a short film entitled “Turbo” on a Red camera that shows how may believe we’ll be playing video games in 10-20 years. Turbo looks a little goofy in the trailer above (and yes, someone’s head actually goes through a crane game), but the special effects that are in 2-D are pretty dope!
The 4-man team dubbed themselves ‘Ember Lab’ and completed the visual effects work over five months, and got the inspiration for the project from Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, Street Fighter, Karate Kid, and Tron to create their vision of the future of gaming, including motifs like health bars while enhancing real world colors with 80s neon which I think is pure genius!
The 20-minute short premiers April 30th in LA so if your around there, be sure to go check it out and let me know how it is!!
