Japanese slip ‘n slide

Posted in: Entertainment, No Comments »

Any television show that puts together a bunch of hot girls in bikinis, covers them in KY and then lines them up in a row is guaranteed to be a winner.

Throw in a bunch of creepy middle aged dudes who try to slip N’ slide across them with whoever makes it the farthest wins and you have a certified hit!!!

Just watch and tell me you don’t agree! Gotta love those Japanese game show creators!

Space beer

Posted in: Lifestyle, No Comments »

lifestyle

Sure, the Soviets had the first cosmonaut and the Americans won the moon. But leave it to the Japanese to brew the first space beer in history. Called Space Barley, it uses barley grown in the International Space Station.

Made with the collaboration of the breweries, Okayama University, and the Russian Academy of Science, the Space Barley is made only of barley and has no additives. And even while some might say that it tastes like metal and loneliness, and others will charge that it probably comes out of someones ass, I’d like to try it.

Or maybe precisely because of that. Who knows?

Sadly, Sapporo has only made 100 litres of this extra-terrestrial beer with a 5.5% alcohol content, which will only be available for a limited tasting in Japan.

So if your in Japan and reading this, hook me up!!!!

Ask me what sounds like a good time and I’d tell you this…get a bunch of three-year-olds, shove five pounds of rice in their backpacks and then force them to try and race! The humiliation and explotation they’ve suffered will send these kids to years of therapy and leave them with a deep hatred of their parents.

However, it’s totally worth the ensuing hilarity of watching them fall down and cry. Kuddos to those Japanese parents for making my Monday that much better!

get your iron man on

Posted in: Lifestyle, 2 Comments »

lifestyle

Don’t deny it, you’ve always wanted to strap yourself into a robotic exoskeleton and fight crime the way your normally weak limbs would never have let you. And now you can.

Cyberdyne, the Japanese company responsible for the HAL (hybrid assistive limb) prototype robot suit, is starting rentals this week. The price for being superhuman: about $2,200.

The 22 pound battery-operated system is attached to your waist via a belt and captures brain signals through sensors which are attached to your skin. They say that HAL works effortlessly with your muscles, increasing your strength up to 10 times the norm without turning you all jolty and robot-like thus making you more Iron Man than Robocop.

But for those of you that think $2,200 is a rip off, you can always rent one leg for $1,460.

Just sayin…but you can’t really put a price on looking this good so get nuts and spring for both!

the new Rubik’s Cube

Posted in: Entertainment, No Comments »

entertainment

I’ve always loved the Rubik’s Cube. Granted I have no patience and end up throwing the thing at the wall, but I love that thing. Now they’ve gone and messed with a good thing.

Check out this new variation on Rubik’s Cube: instead of colors and symmetrical cubes, this beast has all-mirrored surfaces and a bizarre asymmetric rectangular block setup. As you twist it, the blocks poke out in different ways, and from this you’re supposed to solve the puzzle. As if the first one wasn’t hard enough!

Beef on the street is that it’s ready to be released in Japan soon for around $20. No idea when it hits the US and Canada but I’ll let you know…get your Tylenol ready!
