street light bug noise

Posted in: Entertainment, No Comments »

entertainment

I’m always fascinated when people create cool stuff like this which more or less looks like magic to me. However in reality it’s really just a series of long exposures of bugs flying under a street light. The guy who created it is Nick Bilton and you can check out his website here.

Somehow this captivates me so I figured I’d pass it along to you.

PS…I’m on acid!!!!!

musical-bra

If you ever check out Instructables they always have some wild mods on their site, but this new one is just over the top. The musical bra isn’t only weird, it’s completely useless…unless you really want a bra that pumps out tunes.

The speaker is on the front, with a battery pack between the shoulder blades at the back, and each cup is equipped with eight different “sounds” culled from a small keyboard, which are triggered by custom-made buttons sewn into the bra. Hit the read link for the full rundown of how to make one of your very own, but fair warning: you’re going to have to be pretty adept with needle and thread to get this project done, but the final result should be fairly priceless.

Cause when you really think about it, who doesn’t want a clunky sports bra?

all about auto-tune

Posted in: Entertainment, No Comments »

entertainment

If you listen to any sort of hip-hop or rap music, you can’t avoide hearing everyone and there mother using auto-tuning. And for those of you who don’t know what it is, it’s a type of digitally “repairing” off-key vocal tracks. It sounds really cool but it’s gotten to be played out in a sense. I still love it but it’s more prominent than ever is the music game.

The first time we ever really had to deal with auto-tune was when that really bad Cher song came out.

But now, T-Pain brought it back and anyone and everyone is using it from Weezy to Jeezy to Kanyeezy!! I almost puked in disgust when I listen to the Kanye album the first time all the way through. But after anothe listen I was hooked and think it was one of the best albums of the year and some genius stuff.

Not everyone is agreeing with me though because a recent Time Magazine article explains that auto-tune is used on just about every major-label pop album these days, from Britney Spears to some southerner’s in country music. It basically says that auto-tuning will be applied to almost any recording because artists suck these days and need the help.

It’s a good atricle, be sure to check it out.

I didn’t know if it would ever happen but it has, and I’m pretty pumped about it!!

I swear if someone can figure out how to properly fund this thing, it will change music on the web forever.

No joke.

The Personal Soundtrack Shirt started as an April Fools’ joke by ThinkGeek, but now it’s actually available to really buy. No joke.

It features a Velcro-detachable speaker that’s powered by four AA batteries, and includes a 20-button remote to cycle through preloaded or personal music and sound effects that is no doubt, classy.

But in case you aren’t interested in using the remote, the shirt also accepts a standard 3.5mm input, allowing you to play your MP3 player of choice through the speaker all day long and share your musical tastes with everyone from that creepy dude on the subway to that annoying person in line at the grocery store.

As for washing, the shirt complete with internal wiring is apparently fine to hand wash or throw in the gentle cycle as long as you remove the other components. That means your $40 Personal Soundtrack Shirt is a somewhat practical purchase, which is something I never expected to say when I rolled out of bed this morning.
