packin your Duck Hunt gun!

Look, I’m for the right to bear arms as much as the next guy…I just hate ducks.

Even though we were born a few generations too late for Wild West gun-slinging and a few generations too early for deadly, preteen laser pistol duels, the Duck Huntin’ t-shirt celebrates our place in the here and now, when packing a light gun in your pants is seen as humorous as opposed to dangerous and t-shirts are seen as fashionable as opposed to a denial of one’s unavoidable trek into middle age.

For $20, it’s definitely tempting, but you could always pull out your old Nintendo light gun for real and save a few bucks.

Now that’s gangsta!

the Nintendo Air Max

Well they aren’t exactly what I pictured, but there’s no denying that Nintendo and Nike’s NES Air Max kicks do bring back thoughts of the dull and boring old school Nintendo Entertainment System.

Featuring two tones of gray and a reddish/orange stripe, only the hardcore sneaker heads will notice the subtle reference to the Start button. But I say that anyone who doesn’t get it isn;t really worth me talking to anyways since we’re pretty big Nike freaks around the office.

They’re out now so go grab a pair if you’re lucky because collectors go nuts for these types of shoes!!

the Nintoaster

Mom always said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and now I finally see why. I don’t know why I love these stupid little inventions so much but I do. A real toaster was gutted of its heating elements and filled with and old school Nintendo. Coolest part, the cartridge actually pops out with the toaster’s working lever. The only part that doesn’t work is the heat knob, which would have been real smooth if it linked up to control the integrated orange LEDs.

Click on this link to see more pictures and a video of how the guy made it…pretty cool stuff.

the bird who couldn’t fly

I didn’t get a chance to Red Bull’s Flugtag event in Chicago on Saturday, but some of my friends did and I’m jealous. For those of you who don’t know what the Red Bull Flugtab event is, it’s where all those crazy flying machines (which aren’t really intended for flight) launched off a 30-foot pad that’s perpendicular to the shoreline, facing into the water. I got peppered with calls about how I would have loved the Nintendudes who crafted a giant NES, Zapper and Duck Hunt duck for flight. To their dismay, vintage gaming gear does double as a flight machine.

The Nintendudes didn’t place in the competition, but who cares, they’re still my boys! But to be fair, the designer of their 250-pound plane had no experience designing planes. As he said, “I didn’t necessarily study the laws of aerodynamics when I designed it. It may fly, but it wasn’t necessarily designed with that in mind.”

That’s what I’m talkin about!

a Nintendo DVD player

Posted in: Gaming, No Comments »

gaming

So the gadget Wii might not play DVDs but your old school Nintendo can!!!! A regular NES was gutted and had a $20 DVD player dropped in it. And if that wasn’t cool enough, the guy who did it rigged the controllers to function with the DVD player.

Dpad - Navigation
Start - Power
Select - Eject
A - Selection
B - Main Main Menu

I’d like them to incorporate the old up, down, up, down, right, left, right, left, right Contra code somehow…but for now…this will do!!!
